Chris Millette's Testimony |
|
So this is my testimony and I will start at the age of 13 when my drug use began. Now I’m not talking about just smokin’ pot or drinking … I was doing L.S.D. and Cocaine. In addition to that, every Friday night two buddies and me would drink a liter of Vodka. As I grew older, my drug use grew as well. By the time I was 17 I think I had done everything except heroin and crack. I didn't see that I had a problem … I thought I was what you call a “responsible drug user.” All that changed when I was 17 and overdosed on X … not just one time, but 2 times … and I don't know if you have heard stories about people who OD’d on X, but from what I understand they don't survive. I now believe that God saved me from death and from brain damage. You know the funny thing is, I didn't even believe in Him during that time but He still kept me from death. That ended my hard drug use. I figured that I’d be OK if I just smoked Cigarettes and Pot. I also still drank, of course. I moved out of my Dad’s house when I was 22 and my friend Ricky took me in. We smoked and drank every day for like a month. Then I finally found a job and a place of my own in Northeast Minneapolis. I didn't have any heat or air conditioning so the summer and winter months got pretty bad. I was managing a Punk Rock band. My drinking got so heavy I got an ulcer and I had to cut back -- thank God, but I still couldn't quit. I wanted to, but weed and beer really liked me and I really liked them. Sometimes I would buy a bag of weed instead of my week’s worth of food. In the neighborhood I lived in it was easy to find weed or anything you wanted for that matter. I was robbed at gunpoint 3 times working. God saved my life. There again I could have been shot and killed any of those times. In fact the next person who was robbed by one of the same guys that robbed me was shot and killed. There were nightly gunshots. I think the first week of my job somebody was decapitated a block down from my work … keep in mind that I worked 2 blocks from the local police department. It was a monthly thing to see the swat team kicking in a door and a house being condemned. While all this was going on my buddy, Ryan, came and told me how he was saved. I thought he was crazy and that he was just going through a phase. I was sure that we would be drinking and havin’ a good time in a week or so. We went on some prayer walks and talked, but nothing ever really happened so I went back to my life in Northeast. I found a new job and quit smoking cigarettes so that was good, but my weed smoking got to be out of control. I was getting high every second that I could … even at work. Now that new job wasn't something to be too proud of because everybody that worked there, even the manager, was stealing from the place. I even did a little bit … in fact the guy that trained me in showed me how to do it the first day I worked there. Then one day I realized what I was doing was really wrong, but by that time they had a new manager who was on to what was going on. I lost my job because one of the other workers took $1,000 from the office and set me up for it. Three days later I got a phone call saying that they found out who had really taken the money but they couldn’t rehire me. That upset me, but I was happy that I had money and didn't have to work … until the money ran out and my food ran out. Soon all I had money for were bags of potatoes. Having no other options, I called my dad who, by the way, never moved and asked him if I could move back in. After a few days he called me back and said, “Yes.” so a week later I moved back home. That's when I got to thinking about Ryan and what he said to me a year before. I called him up since I was back in the neighborhood. A few nights later we got together for a prayer walk. I was telling him how things were going with me when he stopped me and said that we needed to pray. I never had a problem with people praying for me so I said, “OK.” Before I knew it, I was praying too. I was asking for God to forgive me and, before I knew it, I started to feel almost drunk to the point that I had to sit down. I remember looking up at Ryan and asked him if this was normal. He was just smiling at me and said I was feeling God and that the Holy Spirit was touching me. I didn't even really know who the Holy Spirit was but I knew this wasn't a bad thing. I waited for a little while for the feeling to stop and once it did, I stood up and asked Ryan if I could go to church with him the next day and he said, “Sure.” Well the next night I went to Way of the Lord and I really thought that everyone there was crazy. As I was sitting there, the Holy Spirit came to me and again I felt drunk like last time except my hearing faded out and so did my vision. At that moment I got a message which seemed totally crazy … it’s like I just knew something … and what is was is that I needed to take all my addictions and toss them into the river. He even showed me where … I saw it in my head as clear as day. As I got that message, a friend sat next to me and asked me if I was going to go to the Coon Rapids dam; that's when I knew it was God speaking to me. So that night after church I went down to the river and tossed all my pipes in the river as well as a few other things and my addictions were gone. This leads me to the third night of my salvation … the night that the Holy Spirit baptized me. Once again I was at church and I still thought everyone there was crazy. Then I started to feel electricity in my hands and it started to spread through my whole body. I felt drunk, but this time it was all so strong I had to pray for it to be lessened; however, it just got stronger and stronger until I felt it was more than I could handle. That's when the peace came to me … pure peace … and joy with understanding and knowing that everything was going to be OK in my life … and with this I began to weep because it was all so overpowering I couldn’t even speak. Then I got the idea if I touched other people that maybe it would go into them and be less in me. I could feel it flowing through me head to toe. So I laid hands on people. Some began to weep as well … some started to tremble … some started to laugh so loud that it hurt my ears. Since then I have had visions from God, dreams from God, I feel fire in my hands and when I touch others they can feel it. I have even had God speak through me to other people words that weren't my own. I have had my prayers answered. I know all this is unbelievable … it seems like that to me too … but I want you all to know that God is real and He wants you with Him and He has gifts to give you if you’re willing to give your life up to Him.
